Every day we hear about the number of uninsured in America, but we usually only hear part of the story. In reality, many of the uninsured and "voluntarily" uninsured. If we want to solve a problem based on people making choices, then the solution is to legislate away freedom of choice. I believe that we should not make tax payers pay for the voluntarily uninsured. The attached report shows that there only about 3% involuntarily uninsured. These are the people we should focus our efforts on, and taking steps to reduce the cost of healthcare will go a long way to solving this problem...full story...

Some proponents of government medicine fee that US Doctors are doing a poor job according to their "health outcomes". They also say that we spend twice as much as a % of GDP per capita as other nations, then they go on to say that our doctors earn twice as much and that our hospitals cost 5 times as much. In the US we are marked down on the "Fairness index". Here you pay more based on age and health, because those folks tend to use more medical services. The WHO does not think that is "fair". They think we should pay more based in income, not usage. full story...

Breaking News
Three and a half years ago, the Lewin Group wrote a report for California state Senator Sheila Kuehl which basically came to the conclusion that single payer government medicine with rationing was the best solution for California. On December 12th of 2007, the same Lewin Group, when hired to help the NFIB to prepare healthcare reform policy came to the conclusion that "To the greatest extent possible, Americans should receive their health insurance and health care through the private sector".
Gallup Polls show that roughly 20% of Americans think that the Democratic congress is doing a good job, and about 30% think the president is doing a good job. This very small group of people (20% assuming complete overlap), feels that the since the government is doing such a great job, they should take over 1/6th of our economy and regulate our health.
On page 36 of 116 the Lewin Group claims that Medicare administrative costs are only 1.8% and private insurer's administrative costs are 14%. The Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) website reports much higher admin costs. My question is, that if the Lewin Group really believed that government medicine was the solution 3 years ago, why are they now saying that we need to use private healthcare to the maximum extent possible?
